Faire Season 2E ashcan has arrived!

After existing in my head and in conversations with other game designers since the initial posting of Faire Season back in 2021, it finally here! The various demos and playtests I have done over the years have finally born fruit. 

The Quest Clock system is finally a reality, inspired by John Harper’s  FitD mechanics. Enabling a frame work for hitting narrative beats, facilitating long term play, and an advancement system for Dreamers to grow and change over multiple game sessions. 
A Wanderhome inspired Guide framework has been added in the form of The Steward.  A Facilitator player that takes a more traditional MC/Storyteller/GM role to embody the Dream, manage the Quest Clock, and portray Minor Characters. 

Some minor tweaks have been made to the Playbooks and Setting elements for more inclusive language. The mini essay “Queerness and Gender in Faire Season” is now apart of the main text. A few more terms have been added to the Lexicon to clarify the cultural specific terms and shibboleths used throughout the text.

It’s now in a two column format for ease of use on digital devices and mobile.  With only cover art, drawn/designed by myself, for ease of printing in black & white. A landscape three column  format will be released in the coming weeks to facilitate convention play. 

This ashcan is a launching point for the game’s final evolution which I will be crowdfunding for late 2025 to pay to hire artists, editors, and layout. In the meantime I will be continuing to write, illustrate, and update the ashcan , as the Dream continues to inspire me to improve and polish this game for all of you Dreamers out there.

A deep thanks to all who have played and denied Faire Season’s first edition. It is my love letter to indie games, SCA, RenFaire, Fairy Festivals, and LARP. It truly has been an incredible journey to share this Dream with you all.
